Branding 101

Yes, we’ve all heard it. Branding. So what is it and why is it “important?”

  1. It helps the customer understand what you do and who you are.

When I go to a new website, I look at their logo, the design, the colours, the typography, all of it. Everyone does this subconsciously. As a designer myself I just know the terms for what I’m looking at. The “vibe” or “feel” is branding, whether it’s professional, fun, sexy, bold, or innovative. Customers get this immediate idea of who you are as a business. As a business you hope this “vibe” is what you want to be seen as. In this post I will discuss how to define your brand and ensure you are seen the way you desire.

  2. You can utilize your branding to be consistent.

When you know who you are you shine. You confidently can say what you are and where you’re going. Without a clear definition… Let’s just say you look lost and confused. Alas, do not fret as there are solutions and you can always improve no matter what. A full shift is possible at any time it may just cost extra to re-brand at a larger scale. You can utilize your branding for more than just colours and font. You can use it to find topics, what you share with others, and how often you post. Not every brand needs to be putting out content daily. Many can and do only provide high-quality content on fewer occasions.

  3. It creates memorability

Do you know big brands like Coca-Cola? They have branding to thank for that red and white bottle you see in your head. Strong branding creates a connection with people and your product or service. Brands like Nike as well, they created a sports brand that has a quality reputation worldwide. Creating something that speaks to your ideal customer and gets them engaged immediately should be your goal as a business.

The spiral is a Fibonacci spiral and is designed to show alignment and nature as well as the endless energy we all have in our bodies. It also doubles as an inner tree circle which represents life.
